  A BEAUTIFUL GHOST
  
  When my grandma was ill at home I stayed at my mother's to help her nurse her. At three o'clock in the morning I awoke to see an old lady stood by my bed. She was as real as you or me. Her face was beautiful and she wore black ankle boots with four buttons at the side; a long black lace dress trimmed with distinctive, tiny, black beads; a cameo broach and she had long hair pinned at the back of the neck.
  
  When I reached out to touch her she disappeared. Surprisingly, I wasn't frightened at all. I laid thinking about what had happened for three hours then finally fell back to sleep.
  
  In the morning my tear stained mother explained that during the night my grandma had died. I told her of my experience of the ghost. She was amazed by my description. It was my great grandma who I had never met or seen a photo of. My mother showed me the cameo she wore and the little black beads from her dress that she had made into a necklace as a momento.

  We always expect that spirit sightings are of transparent ghostly forms. But most reports describe the spirit seen as solid and real. Unfortunately I have rarely seen this myself. When spirit communicate through my mediumship I hear a voice or sense their presence. Your 'vision' was so detailed that your mother was clearly able to recognise the spirit. Your great grandma had come for her daughter and had let you know.

  THE DEAD CAME ON HOLIDAY WITH US.
  
  My father, who died 39 years ago, used to live in Norwich. My cousin still lived in the area so, together with my two sisters, we decided to tour the Norfolk area, look him up and visit the places that Dad used to talk about. Our holiday was to be, I suppose, a spiritual pilgrimage.
  
  On our second day we found a lovely inn that did bed and breakfast. It was miles off the beaten track. 'There's a beautiful pink aura flowing between the three of you' said the landlady. She must have been quite psychic.
  
  A few days later we were introduced to an old lady who regularly visited the inn. She was a medium and, without me fully understanding what was happening at the time, entered a trance. On her face my sisters and I saw faces of dead people we knew superimpose over hers. We saw my father, my mother and my aunt. 'You must visit the railway station' she said. This was where dad used to work.
  
  Later we met our cousin who suggested places we could visit. We took lots of photographs and had quite a shock when they were developed. The railway station photo revealed dad's face in the window; in the foliage of a tree by a church we saw mother's face and nearly every photograph showed someone- my father, mother, aunt, niece, brother and so on.
  
  When we showed the pictures to other members of the family, nearly everyone agreed that the faces in the pictures were quite distinct.

  The medium that you met at the inn demonstrated transfiguration. Sometimes the faces of the deceased are defined by the muscular contractions of the face but the best examples are seen when a misty substance called ectoplasm builds over the medium. Sometimes when I'm making a spirit link for my sitters they say that they see the communicators face superimposed over mine although I am unaware of what's happening.
  
  The pictures tell an interesting story. Presumably the faces are displayed in the textures of the foliage, glass etc. Although it is well known that the subconscious will project images of faces into random patterns only you and your family will be able to decide how close these resemble the people you knew.
